Two People Killed in Rochester Car Accident by Joseph Avenue

Investigation Underway After Fatal Rochester Car Accident by Joseph Avenue and Kelly Street

ROCHESTER, NEW YORK (March 19, 2026) – Two people have tragically died in a Rochester car accident near the intersection of Joseph Avenue and Kelly Street.

Rochester police officials are saying that the collision took place around 1:30 a.m. on Sunday. Two vehicles collided in the roadway for undetermined reasons.

Paramedics were called to the scene of the collision to help all of the victims. Sadly, two people have died due to their injuries.

A full investigation into the crash remains ongoing at this time.

Liability for Rochester Car Accidents

Car accidents remain a major cause of preventable injury and death in the United States. According to the National Safety Council, “Between 1913 and 2023, motor-vehicle deaths per 10,000 registered vehicles decreased 95%, from 33 to 1.57, respectively. In 1913, only 1.3 million vehicles were registered, and 4,200 people died on the road.” Several steps should be taken after any Rochester car accident.

  • The police should be called to the scene of the accident to investigate.
  • All medical records related to injuries should be preserved.
  • The family of any person who died should contact a wrongful death attorney.

If a driver fails to slow down to avoid hitting another vehicle, this could serve as evidence of negligence. There is a presumption of negligence on the part of any driver that fails to slow down to avoid colliding with a vehicle in their own lane of traffic. The family of any person who died in a car accident may have legal recourse through a wrongful death claim. There are, however, statutes of limitations associated with pursuing claims. It is important to act before those statutes of limitations expire.
