Woman Killed, Second Woman Seriously Injured in University Heights Apartment Fire Caused by Electrical Malfunction

UNIVERSITY HEIGHTS, BRONX (March 29, 2026) – A woman has tragically died, and her partner was injured in a university Heights, Bronx apartment fire.
New York City officials are saying that the accident took place on Sunday morning. A fire started at the commercial property due to some type of electrical malfunction.
Firefighters and paramedics were called to the scene of the fire to help all of the victims. One woman died due to the severe nature of her injuries.
Her partner was hospitalized with major trauma. A full investigation into the cause of the accident remains ongoing at this time.
