Head-On Collision in Bergen Leaves One Person Dead and Four Others Injured
BERGEN, CALIFORNIA (August 9, 2025) – One person has tragically died, and four other people were injured in a Bergen car accident along State Route 33.
Bergen police officials are saying that the accident took place around 12:30 PM on Friday. Authorities believe that one driver heading east pulled into an oncoming lane of traffic in an attempt to pass another vehicle traveling eastbound.
Those vehicles were involved in a head-on collision. Firefighters and paramedics were called to the scene to help all the victims. One person sadly died, and four others were hospitalized.
A full investigation into the cause of the crash remains ongoing at this time.
Speeding remains one of the most common causes of car accidents in the United States. According to the National Safety Council, “Speeding was a factor in 29% of all traffic fatalities in 2023, killing 11,775, or an average of over 32 people on a typical day. The total number of fatal motor-vehicle crashes attributable to speeding was 10,541.” There are many ways that speeding increases the odds of collisions.
All drivers have a legal obligation to use caution to avoid colliding with any other vehicle in the roadway. If a driver disregards traffic laws and collides with another vehicle, this could form the basis of a negligence claim. There is a presumption of negligence on the part of any driver that enters into opposing lanes of traffic and hits another vehicle. Any person injured in such a collision may be able to pursue some measure of accountability through a civil claim.
We at GLK Law extend our deepest condolences to the family of the person killed in this collision. It is our hope that the other victims will be able to make a full recovery. Any person that may have more information about what happened should reach out to authorities. There needs to be a thorough investigation into what went wrong.
