Two People Killed in Hicksville Car Accident on Old Country Road

Driver Indicted on Manslaughter Following Fatal Crash That Killed Two Teens in Hicksville

HICKSVILLE, LONG ISLAND (March 27, 2026) – Two people have tragically died in a Hicksville car accident on Old Country Road.

Long Island police are saying that the accident took place back in January. A driver was reportedly traveling 83 mph and a 40 mph zone when he was involved in a collision.

Paramedics were called to the scene of the accident to help all of the victims. Sadly, two passengers in that vehicle died due to the severity of their injuries.

Prosecutors are now charging the driver with manslaughter. That person is also accused of disabling a key safety feature on the car that would’ve prevented it from spinning.

Liability for Long Island Car Accidents

Speed remains a leading cause of car accidents in the United States. According to the NHTSA, “For more than two decades, speeding has been involved in approximately one-third of all motor vehicle fatalities. In 2023, speeding was a contributing factor in 29% of all traffic fatalities.” Several steps should be taken after any car accident.

  • Photos of the accident site should be taken.
  • Medical records related to injuries should be preserved.
  • Surveillance footage should be sought.
  • The family of a person who died in a Long Island car accident should seek an independent review by a team experienced in negligence claims.

If a driver fails to slow down to avoid a collision, this could be construed as negligence. There is a presumption of negligence on the part of any driver that allows their vehicle to depart from the roadway and collide with a fixed object. The family of any person who died in a car accident may be able to seek some measure of accountability through a civil action.
