Six Injured in Hauppauge Car Accident on Veterans Memorial Highway

Suffolk County Police Investigating Multi-Vehicle Collision in Hauppauge That Left Six People Injured

HAUPPAUGE, NEW YORK (March 25, 2026) – At least six people were injured in a Hauppauge car accident on Veterans Memorial Highway.

Suffolk County officials are saying that the accident took place around 6 PM on Tuesday. One vehicle was apparently making a left-hand turn onto Ledgewood Drive when it was involved in a collision with several other vehicles, including a Tesla Model 3.

In total, five vehicles were involved in the crash. One of the vehicles caught fire, which then spread to the Tesla. Firefighters and paramedics were called to the scene of the crash to help all of the victims.

In total, six people were injured in the crash. Five were transported to Stony Brook University Hospital. Two people reportedly suffered serious injuries.

A full investigation into the crash remains ongoing.

Liability for Hauppauge Car Accidents

Drivers must use caution to avoid collisions with other vehicles. They must be especially cautious when preparing to make any left-hand turn. According to NY Veh & Traf L § 1141, “The driver of a vehicle intending to turn to the left within an intersection or into an alley, private road, or driveway shall yield the right of way to any vehicle approaching from the opposite direction which is within the intersection or so close as to constitute an immediate hazard.” Several steps should be taken after any car accident.

  • The police should be called to the scene as early as possible.
  • All medical records related to injuries should be collected.
  • Victims should consider their options with an experienced personal injury attorney.

If a driver makes an unsafe left turn in the path of another vehicle, this could serve as evidence of negligence. Any person injured in a car accident may be able to pursue damages through a personal injury claim. Damages can help cover many of the injuries and losses associated with an accident. There are, however, statutes of limitations associated with being able to pursue claims. Failing to act within those statutes of limitations can result in a permanent loss of a person’s ability to file a civil claim.
