Two Injured in East Williamsburg Fire at Construction Site

Investigation Underway After Fire at East Williamsburg, Brooklyn Construction Site Leaves Two People Injured

BROOKLYN, NEW YORK (October 18, 2025) – Two people were injured when a fire broke out at a construction site in East Williamsburg at 2:54 Boerum Street.

New York City officials are saying that the accident took place around 7 PM on Monday. A fire started at the construction site for undetermined reasons.

Firefighters and paramedics were called to the scene to help the victims. Two people were treated at the scene.

The fire was eventually brought under control, roughly one and a half hours after it was first reported.

Investigation into the cause of the fire remains ongoing.

Liability for New York Construction Site Fires

Fires remain a leading cause of preventable injury and death in New York City and across the United States. According to the National Safety Council, “In 2023, 1,389,000 fires resulted in 3,670 civilian deaths and 13,350 injuries. In addition, there were 89 firefighter deaths. This firefighter fatal injury count is a decrease from the 97 fatal injuries in 2022 but is otherwise the second highest since 2013.” There could be many causes of a residential fire at a construction site.

  • Faulty electrical wiring could ignite wood or other flammable materials.
  • Welding and other activities may ignite debris that is left out.
  • Flammable construction materials may be improperly stored and catch fire.

Construction companies in New York have a legal obligation to maintain their worksites in a reasonably safe condition. When they have actual or constructive notice of a dangerous condition on their premises, they must take action. Failing to take action to remedy a dangerous condition could form the basis of a negligence claim. Any worker injured in an accident may be able to seek some measure of accountability through a civil claim.
