Three Workers Injured in Accident at JFK Airport

Workers at JFK Airport Injured After Becoming Pinned by Beam

QUEENS, NEW YORK (February 28, 2026)—At least three workers were injured in a construction accident after being pinned underneath a beam at the John F. Kennedy Airport.

New York City officials are saying that the accident took place on Friday at building 269. For undetermined reasons, a beam hit and pinned three workers.

Firefighters and paramedics were called to the scene of the accident to help all the victims. The workers were eventually extricated and transported to the hospital to receive treatment.

A full investigation by OSHA remains ongoing at this time.

Liability for Queens Construction Accidents

Despite many years of safety improvements, the construction industry remains quite dangerous for workers. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, “In 2023, about 1 in 5 (20.8 percent) workplace deaths occurred in the construction industry and 38.5 percent of these deaths were due to falls, slips, and trips. The construction industry accounted for 47.8 percent of all fatal falls, slips, and trips in 2023.”Construction companies should take many measures to prevent accidents.

  • Workers should be provided with fault protection.
  • Construction sites should be overseen by a competent person.
  • Construction companies should perform a hazard analysis at all new worksites.
  • Workers should be trained to recognize hazards.

Construction companies have a legal obligation to maintain their premises in a reasonably safe condition. Construction companies and general contractors can be held strictly liable for accidents where a worker is hit by a falling object. In particular, these types of incidents are covered by New York’s Scaffold Law.
