Investigation Underway After 100 People Displaced and Multiple Injured in Bronx Apartment Fire
BRONX, NEW YORK (February 2, 2026) – Several people were injured after a fire broke out on the top floors of a Bronx apartment building at 1215 Grand Concourse.
New York City officials are saying that the incident began in the early morning hours. Firefighters and paramedics were called to the scene after getting reports of a fire.
It took first responders roughly 50 minutes to put out the blaze. Around 100 people were displaced due to the fire. Multiple people were transported to the hospital.
The American Red Cross is working with a nearby school to help impacted families. A full investigation into the incident remains ongoing.
Residential fires remain a leading cause of preventable injury and death for families across New York and the United States. According to the National Fire Protection Association, “US fire departments responded to an estimated average of 328,590 home structure fires per year. These fires caused an annual average of 2,600 civilian deaths; 10,770 civilian fire injuries; and $8.9 billion in direct property damage.” There are many potential causes of apartment fires.
It can be difficult to know where to begin after any residential fire. Many victims are left with critical injuries that impair their ability to live and work. Unfortunately, property owners will virtually never accept responsibility if someone is injured on their property. Victims of residential fires are able to seek some measure of accountability through a personal injury claim.
We at GLK Law extend our best wishes to all of the victims of this accident. Any person who may have more information about what happened should reach out to the police. There needs to be a thorough investigation into what went wrong.
