Liability For Queens Garage Fires

Residential fires remain a leading cause of preventable injury and death in the United States. According to the National Safety Council, β€œIn 2022, 1,504,500 fires resulted in 3,790 civilian deaths and 13,250 injuries. In addition, there were 96 on-duty firefighter deaths. This fatal injury count is higher than recent years and the highest since 2013, when 98 on-duty deaths were reported.” There are a number of common causes of home fires.

  • Faulty wiring
  • Lithium ion batteries
  • Cooking accidents
  • Heater malfunctions

Depending on the facts of any case, there could be numerous sources of liability for a garage fire. For example, the manufacturer of a vehicle could be held at fault. Car companies have a legal obligation to create products that are reasonably safe. When a company creates a car with design defects, this can form the basis of a product liability claim. It is important that evidence is properly preserved after any accident.

  • Eyewitnesses should be interviewed.
  • Medical records should be preserved.
  • Surveillance footage should be sought.
  • An experienced attorney should be contacted.

It can be hard to know where to begin after any home fire. Victims are often left with serious injuries. They may also be forced out of their residence. The family of any person who is killed in a home fire is able to seek some measure of accountability through legal action. In particular, they may be able to purse damages through a wrongful death claim.
