Deadline Approaches To Pursue Camp Lejeune Claim

Time Is Running Out For Those Harmed By Toxic Water At Camp Lejeune

CAMP LEJEUNE, NORTH CAROLINA (December 5, 2023) – August 10th, 2024 is the deadline to be able to pursue a claim for those who have been injured by the ground water at Camp Lejeune.

The Camp Lejeune Justice Act was passed in 2022. It gives those who have been affected by the contaminated water legal recourse. The passage of this bill came many years after thousands of U.S. service members and veterans said that they became ill after being exposed to contaminated water at the Camp Lejeune military base.

The water at the military base became primarily contaminated by PCE (perchloroethylene or tetrachloroethylene) due to improper waste disposal. Long term exposure to these chemicals has led to numerous illnesses including various cancers.

Nearly 1 1/2 years after its passage hundreds of thousands of people have pursued tort claims. But many more victims remain. It has been estimated that as many as 1,000,000 people have been harmed by the water.

Dont Wait: If you or a loved one has stayed at Camp Lejeune for 30 days or more between 1953 to 1987, you may have legal recourse. This is true even if your loved one died many decades ago after becoming ill.

What follows below are some of the presumptive conditions associated with exposure to the contaminated water at the base.

  • Adult leukemia
  • Aplastic anemia and other myelodysplastic syndromes
  • Bladder cancer
  • Kidney cancer
  • Liver cancer
  • Multiple myeloma
  • Non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma
  • Parkinson’s disease

There are a number of symptoms commonly associated with the illnesses that people have suffered after staying at Camp Lejeune.

  • Fatigue
  • Fever
  • Night sweats
  • Loss of appetite
  • Cough or respiratory problems
  • Muscle stiffness
  • Abdominal pain

Many of these symptoms may not appear until several weeks, months, years or even decades after exposure. If you’ve experienced these symptoms or have an illness associated with the chemicals at Camp Lejeune, we may be able to help you.
