Cyclist Killed in Brooklyn Hit-and-Run Crash by Lorimer Street

Investigation Underway After Tesla Involved in Brooklyn Hit-and-Run Collision by Meserole Street and Lorimer Street

BROOKLYN, NEW YORK (March 15, 2026)—A cyclist was seriously injured in a Brooklyn hit-and-run car accident near the intersection of Meserole Street and Lorimer Street.

New York City officials are saying that the collision took place around 2:30 AM early Saturday morning. A cyclist was riding her bicycle westbound on Meserole Street when she was struck by the driver of a blue Tesla.

That vehicle fled the scene and is currently being sought by police. Paramedics were called to the accident site to help the injured woman.

She was transported to a local hospital in critical condition. Unfortunately, she was later pronounced dead at the hospital.

Liability for Brooklyn Hit-and-Run Collisions

Far too many people are seriously injured or killed every year in accidents with hit-and-run drivers. According to the AAA Foundation for Traffic Safety, “In 2016, there were 1,980 fatal hit-and-run crashes resulting in 2,049 fatalities. This is the highest annual number of hit-and-run fatalities or crashes recorded since NHTSA began compiling statistics on fatal motor vehicle crashes in 1975.”Multiple factors could contribute to hit-and-run collisions.

  • Distracted driving
  • Inclement weather
  • Poor road conditions
  • Driver intoxication
  • Vehicle system failures

If a driver fails to slow down to avoid hitting a cyclist on the roadway, this could serve as evidence of negligence. Depending on the facts of any case, liability for a pedestrian accident could extend beyond a driver determined to be at fault. If a Tesla or other vehicle experienced a mechanical malfunction, the manufacturer could bear some liability. The family of any person killed in a car accident may be able to seek damages through a wrongful death claim.
