Liability for Bronx Car Accidents

Speeding remains one of the leading causes of car collisions. According to the National Safety Council, “Speeding was a factor in 29% of all traffic fatalities in 2022, killing 12,151, or an average of over 33 people on a typical day. The total number of fatal motor-vehicle crashes attributable to speeding was 10,922.” There are a number of reasons that speeding can be dangerous.

  • A vehicle’s stopping distance increases dramatically at higher speeds.
  • Drivers are less able to navigate turns at higher speeds.
  • Drivers are much more likely to lose control of their vehicle at higher speeds.

All drivers must use caution in order to avoid collisions with other drivers. They must operate their vehicle at a safe speed at all times. Depending on the circumstances, a driver may need to drive well below the speed limit. If a driver fails to slow down in order to avoid hitting a pedestrian, this could form the basis of a negligence claim. Victims of pedestrian accidents tend to suffer very serious and costly injuries.

  • Broken bones
  • Head injuries
  • Lacerations
  • Spinal cord injuries

Car accidents can be prevented when drivers are following safety regulations. Employers can also take steps to prevent workers from being hit. This may include installing barriers at worksites. The family of any person who died in a pedestrian collision may have legal recourse through a wrongful death claim. A wrongful death attorney can examine all of the unique facts of your case and let you know what your legal options are.
