Liability For Arcadia Truck Accidents

Thousands of people are killed or seriously injured every year in truck accidents. According to the IIHS, “A total of 4,714 people died in large truck crashes in 2021, a 17 percent increase compared with 2020. Sixteen percent of these deaths were truck occupants, 68 percent were occupants of cars and other passenger vehicles, and 15 percent were pedestrians, bicyclists or motorcyclists.” There are a number of factors that could contribute to a truck accident.

  • Speeding
  • Distracted driving
  • Inclement weather
  • Poor road conditions

It is important that all drivers exercise due care in order to avoid collisions. Truck drivers are held to a particularly high standard and must get a commercial license. If a driver makes a dangerous left turn in front of another driver, this could form the basis of a negligence claim. It is important that certain steps are taken after any truck accident.

  • Eyewitnesses should be interviewed.
  • Photos of the accident site should be taken.
  • Medical records should be preserved.
  • An experienced truck accident attorney should be contacted.

The vast majority of truck accidents are preventable and involve some amount of driver error. Sadly, though, truck companies will often do everything in their power to deny responsibility after any truck accident. The family of any person who died in a truck accident may have legal recourse through a civil claim. A truck accident attorney can examine the unique facts of your case and let you know what your legal options are.
