BROOKLYN, NEW YORK (February 27, 2025) – Two people were injured in Flatbush, Brooklyn after a boom truck tipped over and landed on top of another vehicle.
New York City officials are saying that the accident took place on Tuesday. The boom truck tipped over and crushed the roof of a bus.
Two men were sitting in the vehicle that was hit. Both were taken to the hospital with serious injuries.
A full investigation into the collision remains ongoing at this time.
Motor vehicle accidents are one of the most common causes of injuries. According to the IIHS, “Although the U.S. population has grown continuously since 1975, the rate of crash deaths per 100,000 people in 2022 was 38% lower than it was four decades ago. In 2022, the overall per capita death rate decreased 2.1% compared with 2021.” There are a number of factors that may contribute to collisions.
Boom trucks are inherently top-heavy. If they are overloaded or used improperly, they can easily tip over and seriously injure occupants or other people. If a boom truck operator failed to follow safety guidelines and caused an accident, this could form the basis of a civil claim. It is important that certain steps are taken after any boom truck accident.
Car accidents can be overwhelming for accident victims. They are often left with high medical bills and may need to take extensive periods of time away from work. Unfortunately, companies often do everything in their power to deny responsibility if they injure someone. Any person that is injured in a boom truck accident may have legal recourse through a civil claim.
We at Gersowitz Libo & Korek, P.C. extend our best wishes to the two people injured in this Flatbush boom truck accident. Any person that may have more information about what happened should reach out to the police. There needs to be a thorough investigation into why this truck tipped over.
