BRONX, NEW YORK (April 19, 2025) – At least three people were injured in the Bronx in a collision involving a Crystal Fruits and Vegetables delivery truck and an ambulance.
New York City officials are saying that the accident took place around 6:30 AM near the intersection of Williamsbridge Road and Pelham Parkway. The force of the impact caused the delivery truck to flip onto its side.
Paramedics were called to the scene in order to help the victims. The driver of the truck and a passenger in the ambulance were both taken to Jacobi Hospital.
A full investigation into the cause of the accident remains ongoing.
Thousands of people are injured in collisions with commercial trucks every year. According to the National Safety Council, “in 2022, 120,200 large trucks were involved in crashes resulting in an injury, a 2.5% increase from 2021. Since 2016, the number of trucks involved in injury crashes has increased 18% and the involvement rate per 100 million large truck miles driven has increased 5.7% to 37.” Truck drivers should take many different measures in order to prevent accidents.
All drivers have a legal obligation to exercise due care in order to avoid collisions. This includes ambulance drivers. Ambulances and other emergency vehicles are allowed to perform traffic maneuvers that would otherwise be illegal. But they must use their lights and sirens when they’re on emergency routes. They cannot operate with a reckless disregard for the safety of others, even during emergency routes. If an ambulance driver does operate with reckless disregard for the safety of the public, this could form the basis of a negligence claim. Victims of ambulance accidents tend to suffer very serious injuries.
It can be hard to know where to begin after an accident. Victims are often left confused and unsure what to do. An accident can leave victims filled with adrenaline that often masks the presence of serious injuries. This is why it is so important that accident victims seek a thorough medical evaluation. It is also a good idea for any person involved in an accident to seek the guidance of an experienced personal injury attorney.
We at GLK Law extend our best wishes to all of the people injured in this Bronx delivery truck accident. It is our sincere hope that all the victims will be able to make a full recovery. There needs to be a thorough investigation into what happened.
