Woman Arrested Following Suspected DUI Collision That Injured Pedestrian on Haynes Path in Bridgehampton
BRIDGEHAMPTON, NEW YORK (August 12, 2026) – A pedestrian was injured in a Bridgehampton car accident with a suspected intoxicated driver along Haynes Path.
Southampton Town Police Department officials are saying that the accident took place. A pedestrian was attempting to cross the roadway when they were hit by a passenger vehicle.

Officers at the scene arrested the driver of the passenger vehicle on suspicion of driving under the influence of drugs. A full investigation into the crash is ongoing at this time.
Every person operating a motor vehicle in New York must take reasonable precautions to avoid collisions with other drivers. This necessitates they abstain from alcohol and other potentially intoxicating substances. Pursuant to New York Vehicle and Traffic Law (VTL) § 1192, “No person shall operate a motor vehicle while the person’s ability to operate such motor vehicle is impaired by the consumption of alcohol.” There are multiple ways that alcohol can impair a person’s ability to operate their vehicle safely.
If a driver fails to slow down to avoid colliding with a pedestrian in the roadway, they could be held liable through a civil claim. Drivers can also face criminal liability if they collide with a pedestrian while under the influence of alcohol or drugs. Victims of pedestrian accidents are protected by law. They are able to seek some measure of accountability through a civil claim. Damages in a civil claim can cover lost wages, medical bills, and pain and suffering.
We at GLK Law extend our best wishes for the pedestrian injured in this Bridgehampton car accident. Any person who may have more information should contact the police. It is deeply unfortunate that so many drivers continue to violate the law and operate a motor vehicle while impaired.
