QUEENS, NEW YORK (December 15, 2024) – A motorcyclist has tragically died in a Middle Village, Queens collision by 69th Street and Eliot Avenue.
New York City officials are saying that the collision took place around 5:15 p.m. on Friday. A motorcyclist was hit by another vehicle at the intersection.

Speeding remains one of the most common causes of car accidents. According to the National Safety Council, “Speeding was a factor in 29% of all traffic fatalities in 2022, killing 12,151, or an average of over 33 people on a typical day. The total number of fatal motor-vehicle crashes attributable to speeding was 10,922.” Drivers should take a number of measures in order to avoid collisions.
Drivers have a legal obligation to exercise due care in order to avoid hitting other vehicles. They must not travel at a speed greater than would be safe given the prevailing conditions of the road. Even driving the speed limit could be dangerous during certain periods. If a driver fails to slow down to avoid hitting a motorcyclist, this could form the basis of a negligence claim. It is important that certain steps are taken after any collision.
It can be hard to know what to do after a car accident. Victims are often left with very critical injuries. They may also need to take extensive periods of time away from work. It is important that accident victims understand that they do have rights. The family of any person who died in a car accident may have legal recourse through a wrongful death claim.
We at Gersowitz Libo & Korek, P.C. extend our deepest condolences to the family of the motorcyclist killed in the collision. Any person who may have more information about what happened should reach out to the NYPD. There needs to be a thorough investigation into what went wrong.
