Several People Injured in Queens MTA Bus Accident With Crane Near Springfield Boulevard and Amboy Lane
QUEENS, NEW YORK (July 14, 2025) – At least four people were injured in Queens after an MTA bus was involved in a collision with a crane near the intersection of Springfield Boulevard and Amboy Lane.
New York City officials are saying that the accident took place around 7 AM on Tuesday. An Q88 bus was making a left turn when it collided with an overland crane.
Paramedics were called to the scene to help all of the victims. The bus driver and three passengers were all taken to the hospital to receive treatment.
The operator of the crane refused medical attention at the scene. An investigation into the Queens crane accident remains ongoing.
Car accidents remain a leading cause of preventable injury and death in the United States. According to the IIHS, “A total of 40,901 people died in motor vehicle crashes in 2023. The U.S. Department of Transportation’s most recent estimate of the annual economic cost of crashes is $340 billion.” Buses can be particularly dangerous.
Bus operators are considered “common carriers” and held to a very high standard in terms of safety. They must operate with an abundance of caution to avoid causing harm to their passengers. Among other things, bus drivers must yield the right-of-way to other vehicles close enough to pose a hazard before making a left turn. If a driver makes a left turn into the path of another vehicle, this could form the basis of a negligence claim. Victims of bus injuries tend to suffer very serious trauma.
Bus accidents are often highly preventable. They tend to involve situations where one or more drivers are violating traffic regulations. Unfortunately, bus companies and their insurance providers are not interested in paying fair settlements for the people they injure. In most cases they won’t even accept responsibility for what happened.
We at GLK Law extend our best wishes to all of the people injured in this Queens crane accident. There needs to be a thorough investigation into what went wrong. Someone could’ve easily been killed in a collision. Any person that may have more information should reach out to the NYPD.
