Cause of Fire That Injured Four People At Noonan Plaza Apartments Remains Under Investigation
HIGHBRIDGE, BRONX (November 26, 2025) – At least four people were injured in a Highbridge, Bronx apartment fire at the Noonan Plaza Apartments on West 168th Street.
New York City officials are saying that the accident took place around 11:45 PM on Friday. Firefighters and paramedics were called to the scene after getting a report of a major fire in the building.
They were able to get the blaze under control around one hour after it started. A total of four people were hospitalized.
At least one resident required temporary lodging. A full investigation into the cause of the accident remains ongoing.
Thousands of people are seriously injured or killed in apartment fires across New York and the United States each year. According to the National Fire Protection Association, “In 2024, local fire departments responded to an estimated 1.38 million fires in the United States. These fires caused an estimated 3,920 civilian fire deaths and 11,780 reported civilian fire injuries. The property damage caused by these fires was estimated at $19 billion.” Victims of apartment fires should take several actions.
Property owners of New York City have a legal obligation to maintain their premises in a reasonably safe condition. They must abide by all fire and safety codes. For example, all apartments must have functional smoke detectors to alert residents of impending danger.
