Driver Making Right Turn Involved In Fatal Queens Truck Accident With Bicyclist

QUEENS, NEW YORK (October 19, 2024) – A bicyclist has tragically died in a Queens car accident near the intersection of 4th Avenue and 34th Street.

New York City officials are saying that the collision took place around 7:35 a.m. on Monday. A truck driver was making a right turn when they collided with a bicyclist.

Firefighters and paramedics were called to the scene in order to help the victim. Despite life-saving measures, the victim was later pronounced dead.

A full investigation remains ongoing at this time.

Liability For New York City Truck Accidents

Trucks make up a relatively small number of the total vehicles on the road. But they are involved in a disproportionate number of fatal collisions.  According to the FMCSA, “Elements that influence the occurrence of a crash may take place hours, days, or months before the crash. Pursuant to New York Vehicle Code 1146, all drivers must exercise due care in order to avoid hitting pedestrians, bicyclists, and domestic animals in the roadway. If a truck driver fails to slow their vehicle in order to avoid a cyclist, this could form the basis of a negligence claim. Victims of bicycle accidents often suffer very serious injuries.
