HOMER, NEW YORK (February 25, 2026)—One person died tragically, and another woman was seriously injured in a Homer truck accident on Route 41.
New York State police are saying the collision took place on February 12. A large semi-truck was traveling down the roadway when it was involved in a head-on collision with a passenger vehicle.
Paramedics were called to the scene of the collision to help all of the victims. Sadly, an 86-year-old man died, and his 82-year-old wife was seriously injured in the crash.
A full investigation remains ongoing.
Truck drivers are required to obtain a commercial license and expected to operate their vehicles with an abundance of caution. Pursuant to New York Vehicle Code 1180, “No person shall drive a vehicle at a speed greater than is reasonable and prudent under the conditions and having regard to the actual and potential hazards then existing.” There are many factors that could contribute to any truck accident.
If a truck driver crosses into opposing lanes of traffic and collides with another vehicle, this could form the basis of a negligence claim. If a truck driver was working at the time of a collision, their employer could also be held at fault. Generally speaking, employers can be liable for the wrongful actions of their workers. Any person injured in a truck accident may be able to seek some measure of justice and accountability through a civil claim.
We at GLK Law extend our deepest condolences to the family of the man who died. It is our sincere hope that the injured woman will be able to make a full recovery. Any person who may have more information about what happened should reach out to the police.
