Pedestrian Died in Lower East Side, Manhattan Hit-and-Run Car Accident by Stanton Street and Clinton Street
MANHATTAN, NEW YORK (December 17, 2025) – A woman has tragically died in a Lower East Side, Manhattan car accident at the intersection of Stanton Street and Clinton Street.
New York City officials are saying that the accident took place around 7:00 PM on Thursday. A woman was crossing the street when she was struck by a black SUV turning right on Stanton Street.
That driver continued going eastbound along Stanton Street. Paramedics were pulled to the scene of the collision to help the victim.
She was transported to Bellevue Hospital in critical condition. Sadly, she died due to the severe nature of her injuries.
Many pedestrians are seriously injured or killed in car accidents every year. According to the IIHS, “Deaths from motor vehicle crashes with pedestrians have increased 78% since reaching their low point in 2009 and account for 18% of crash fatalities. The rates of pedestrian crash deaths per 100,000 people are highest for people ages 20 and over.” Several factors could contribute to a pedestrian collision.
Drivers have a legal obligation to exercise care to avoid colliding with any pedestrian in the roadway. They must continuously scan the road ahead of them and slow down when necessary. If a driver fails to slow down to avoid colliding with pedestrians, they could face civil liability for the accident. When drivers continue driving after causing an injury collision, they could also face multiple criminal charges.
We at GLK Law extend our deepest condolences to the family of the woman killed in this collision. There needs to be a thorough investigation into what happened. Any person who may have more information about what happened should reach out to the police.
