POTSDAM, NEW YORK (November 17, 2025) – A 20-year-old woman was injured in a Potsdam car accident with a tractor-trailer truck by the intersection of S. Canton Rd. and County Route 35.

The truck was operated by a 26-year-old woman who was transporting a 20-year-old passenger. Paramedics were called to the scene of the collision to help the victims. The 20-year-old woman was transported to the hospital to receive treatment.
A full investigation into the truck accident remains ongoing.
Many people are seriously injured or killed in accidents involving commercial trucks every year. According to the National Safety Council, “In 2023, 5,375 large trucks were involved in a fatal crash, an 8.4% decrease from 2022 but a 43% increase in the last 10 years. The involvement rate per 100 million large-truck miles traveled is down 8% from 2022, but up 22% in the last 10 years.” Truck drivers should take several actions to avoid collisions.
Truck drivers must take a commercial license. They are expected to operate with a great deal of care to avoid causing harm to other drivers on the roadway. If a truck driver fails to slow down to avoid colliding with another vehicle, this can be construed as negligence. It is important that certain steps are taken after any truck accident.
