Morris Heights, Bronx Apartment Fire Resulted in 1 Death After Man Jumped From Building

MORRIS HEIGHTS, BRONX (September 24, 2026) – One person was killed and another 10 people were injured in a Morris Heights, Bronx apartment fire on Montgomery Avenue near 174th St.

New York City officials are saying that the incident occurred around 7:45 AM on Wednesday morning. Multiple firefighting trucks and paramedics were called to the scene to help all of the victims.

A man in his 40s apparently died due to the severe nature of his injuries. Another 31-year-old man is in critical but stable condition after jumping from the building to escape the fire.
