Salmonella Contamination Across 14 States Left 95 People Sick and Hospitalized 18
NEW YORK, NEW YORK (August 29, 2025) – Around 95 people have been sickened and another 18 were hospitalized in a multi-state salmonella outbreak linked to recalled eggs.
The eggs are believed to be from Country Eggs, of Lucerne Valley, California. The eggs could be purchased under three separate brand names, including Nagatoshi Produce, Misuho and Nijiya Markets.
According to one report from the CDC, the eggs were distributed from June 16 through July 9. The company that produced them is asking consumers to return or dispose of them.
The states affected by the outbreak include Arizona, California, Florida, Georgia, Hawaii, Iowa, Minnesota, North Carolina, Nebraska, Nevada, New York, Pennsylvania, and Washington.
Many people are sickened by salmonella outbreaks every year across the United States. According to the United States Department of Agriculture, “The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention estimates that Salmonella is responsible for 1.35 million infections, 26,500 hospitalizations, and 420 deaths in the United States every year.” There are a number of common symptoms associated with salmonella.
Companies that produce agricultural goods have a legal obligation to ensure that their products are reasonably safe. They must follow all food and safety guidelines by the USDA. Farms should adopt strict hygiene protocols. Animals that are sick should be quarantined. If a food producer fails to exercise the care necessary to prevent outbreaks, they could be liable through a civil claim. Several steps should be taken after becoming sick from a salmonella outbreak.
Salmonella contamination results in severe injuries and deaths in some cases. It is important for accident victims to understand that they do have legal rights. They are able to seek a measure of accountability through a personal injury claim. Damages in a civil claim can help cover lost wages, medical bills, and pain and suffering. An attorney can examine all of the unique facts of your case and let you know what your legal options are.
We at GLK Law extend our best wishes to all of the people injured in this outbreak. It is our sincere hope that they will be able to make a full recovery. Any person that may have more information about what happened should reach out to the Centers for Disease Control.
