Investigation Underway After Woman Thrown From Boat That Exploded at Shellbanks Marina in Seaford

SEAFORD, NEW YORK (June 20, 2026) – A woman was injured and thrown into the water after a boat exploded in the Shellbanks Marina in Seaford.

Nassau County officials are saying that the accident took place on Thursday. The woman was on board the boat when it suddenly exploded.

Firefighters and paramedics were called to the scene of the accident to help the woman. She was transported to NUMC to receive treatment for serious injuries.

The boat had apparently just been fueled prior to the explosion. A full investigation remains ongoing at this time.
