Liability For Yonkers Pedestrian Accidents

Car accidents remain one of the leading causes of serious injury and death in the United States. According to the NHTSA, “For more than two decades, speeding has been involved in approximately one-third of all motor vehicle fatalities. In 2020, speeding was a contributing factor in 29% of all traffic fatalities.” There are a number of other factors that could contribute to a car accident.

  • Distracted driving
  • Inclement weather
  • Poor road conditions
  • Vehicle systems failures

All drivers have a legal obligation to exercise due care in order to avoid collisions. If a driver fails to slow down to avoid hitting a pedestrian in the roadway, this could form the basis of a negligence claim. Sadly, though, drivers will often do everything that they can to deny responsibility if they are involved in a fatal collision. The family of any person that died in a car accident may have legal recourse through a civil claim.
