Investigation Underway After Pedestrian Killed In Queens Collision With Mercedes Benz on Van Wyck Expressway
QUEENS, NEW YORK (November 2, 2025) – A pedestrian has tragically died in Queens along the Vanwick Expressway after being pinned underneath a car.
New York City officials are saying that the collision took place around 2:30 PM on Saturday. A pedestrian was crossing the street when they were hit by a Toyota Scion that was rear-ended by a Mercedes-Benz.
Paramedics were called to the scene of the collision to help the victim. Despite life-saving measures, the pedestrian was pronounced dead at the hospital.
Thousands of pedestrians are killed or seriously injured in car accidents every year across the United States. According to the National Safety Council, “the number of pedestrian fatalities has increased since 2009, leading to a 5-year average of 6,502 pedestrian deaths during the 5 most recent years (2017 to 2021). During this period, pedestrians accounted for 16 or 17% of total traffic fatalities (NCSA, 2023c).” Many different factors could contribute to pedestrian collisions.
Drivers must use caution to avoid colliding with any pedestrian in the roadway. This necessitates that they maintain a safe distance from any vehicle ahead of them. If a driver collides with another vehicle that gets pushed into the path of a pedestrian, this may form the basis of a negligence claim. The family of any person who died in a pedestrian accident may be able to seek some measure of accountability through a wrongful death claim.
We at GLK Law extend our deepest condolences to the family of the victim killed in this Queens pedestrian accident. Any person who may have more information about what happened should reach out to the police. This was a preventable tragedy that should not have taken place.
