Liability For Central Islip Pedestrian Collisions

Thousands of pedestrians are killed every year in the United States. According to the Centers for Disease Control, “Nearly 8,000 pedestrians were killed on our nation’s roads in crashes involving a motor vehicle in 2021. That’s about one death every 66 minutes. One in six people who died in crashes in 2021 were pedestrians.” Many steps should be taken after any pedestrian accident.

  • Eyewitnesses should be interviewed.
  • Medical records should be preserved.
  • Surveillance footage should be sought.
  • An experienced pedestrian accident attorney should be contacted.

Most pedestrian collisions are entirely avoidable. They often involve drivers who are not adequately paying attention to the road ahead of them. Pedestrian collisions are also much more likely when drivers make left turns. The family of any person who died in a pedestrian collision may have legal recourse through a civil claim.
