Investigation Underway After Pedestrian Dies in Crash With SUV and Transit Bus by Broadway and Oak Street

AMITYVILLE, NEW YORK (May 20, 2026)—A pedestrian has tragically died in an Amityville bus accident near the intersection of Broadway and Oak Street.

Long Island police officials are saying that the accident took place around 8:10 PM on Friday evening. Two people were using a crosswalk when they were struck by an SUV that was involved in a collision with a Suffolk County transit bus.

Paramedics were called to the scene of the accident to help the victims. A 61-year-old man from Queens was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash.

Another person was transported to a Good Samaritan University Hospital. A full investigation into the crash remains ongoing at this time.
