Police Searching for Hit-and-Run Driver Involved In Deadly Sunset Park, Brooklyn Crash by 41st Street and Seventh Avenue
BROOKLYN, NEW YORK (October 26, 2025) – A 75-year-old woman has tragically died in a Sunset Park, Brooklyn car accident near 41st Street and Seventh Avenue.
New York City officials are saying that the collision took place around 9:30 p.m. on Saturday. A woman was crossing the street when she was hit by a northbound SUV.
Paramedics were called to the scene of the collision to help the victim. She was taken to a local trauma center with major injuries.
Sadly, she was later pronounced dead at the hospital. A full investigation into the crash remains ongoing.
Pedestrian accidents remain a common cause of preventable injury and death in New York City and across the United States. According to the Centers for Disease Control, “Over 8,000 pedestrians were killed on our nation’s roads in crashes involving a motor vehicle in 2022. That’s about one death every 64 minutes.” Victims of pedestrian accidents tend to suffer very serious injuries.
Drivers must use caution to avoid colliding with pedestrians. They must be particularly cautious around pedestrians at intersections. Pursuant to New York Vehicle Code 1146, all drivers must exercise due care in order to avoid hitting pedestrians, bicyclists, and domestic animals in the roadway. If a driver fails to slow down to avoid hitting a pedestrian, this could form the basis of a negligence claim. The family of any person killed in an accident may be able to seek justice through a civil claim.
We at GLK Law extend our deepest condolences to the family of the woman who died in this Sunset Park collision. Any person who may have more information about what happened should reach out to the police. There needs to be a thorough investigation into what went wrong.
