31-Year-Old Pedestrian From Brentwood Seriously Injured In St. James Collision With Jeep
ST JAMES, LONG ISLAND (October 27, 2025) – A male pedestrian was critically injured in a St. James, Long Island car accident on Middle Country Road.
Long Island officials are saying that the incident took place around 5:30 p.m. on Sunday. The pedestrian was attempting to cross the street, and they were hit by a Jeep.
Paramedics were called to the scene of the collision to help the victim. He was transported to Stony Brook University Hospital with serious injuries.
Car accidents are one of the leading causes of preventable injury and death in the United States. According to the National Safety Council, “2023 marks the second consecutive decrease in deaths. Deaths decreased 3% in 2023, following a 2% decrease in 2022. From 2019 to 2021, deaths increased by 20%. In 2023, 44,762 people died in motor-vehicle crashes compared to 46,027 in 2022 and 46,980 in 2021.” Drivers should take several actions to avoid collisions.
Drivers must be particularly cautious around pedestrians in the roadway. Any driver intending to turn left at an intersection must first yield the right-of-way to any pedestrian that is close enough to pose a hazard. If a driver fails to slow down to avoid colliding with a pedestrian, this could form the basis of a negligence claim. Any person injured due to the negligence of another driver may be able to seek some measure of justice through a personal injury claim.
We at GLK Law extend our best wishes to the victim of this St James pedestrian accident. It is our sincere hope that they will be able to make a full recovery. There needs to be a thorough investigation into what went wrong.
