33-Year-Old Woman Critically Injured in Manhattan Collision on Manhattan Avenue
MANHATTAN, NEW YORK (December 4, 2025) – A pedestrian was seriously injured in a Manhattan car accident on Manhattan Avenue, not far from Grand Street.
New York City officials are saying that the collision took place around 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday. A 33-year-old woman was walking on the sidewalk when she was hit by a Hyundai Sonata that entered the sidewalk.
The victim was pinned by the car. Paramedics were called to the scene of the collision to help the victim.
She was taken to a local hospital to receive treatment. A full investigation into the crash remains ongoing.
Pedestrians lack the protection of enclosed vehicles and are much more likely to be seriously injured in the event of a crash. According to the Governor’s Highway Safety Association, “Drivers struck and killed 7,148 people walking in the United States in 2024, down 4.3% from the year before and the second annual decline, but nearly 20% higher than the 2016 level.” Drivers should take many actions to avoid hitting pedestrians.
Drivers must be particularly cautious to avoid hitting pedestrians. Pursuant to New York Vehicle Code 1146, all drivers must exercise due care in order to avoid hitting pedestrians, bicyclists, and domestic animals in the roadway. When drivers fail to avoid a pedestrian, they could be held at fault through a civil action. Victims of pedestrian accidents tend to suffer very serious injuries.
It can be difficult to know where to begin after a pedestrian accident. Many victims will need to take extensive periods of time away from work. They may also be burdened with high medical bills. Any person injured in a car accident may be able to seek some measure of justice through a personal injury claim. A personal injury attorney can examine the unique facts of your case and let you know what your legal options are.
We at GLK Law extend our best wishes to the woman injured in this pedestrian accident. Any person who may have more information about what happened should reach out to the police. This was a preventable crash that should not have taken place.
