Liability For East Greenbush Semi-Truck Accidents

Thousands of people are killed or seriously injured every year in semi-truck accidents. According to the National Security Council, β€œIn 2021, 5,700 large trucks were involved in a fatal crash, an 18% increase from 2020 and a 49% increase in the last 10 years. The involvement rate per 100 million large-truck miles traveled is up 7% from 2020, and up 22% in the last 10 years.” There are a number of common causes of truck accidents.

  • Speeding
  • Distracted driving
  • Inclement weather
  • Poor road conditions

Truck drivers must get a commercial license and take steps in order to avoid collisions. All truck drivers must operate according to the prevailing conditions of the roadway. This will mean slowing down during periods of reduced visibility or inclement weather. If a truck driver fails to slow down and is involved in a collision, this could form the basis of a negligence claim. Many steps should be taken after any semi-truck accident.

  • Eyewitnesses should be interviewed.
  • Medical records should be preserved.
  • Surveillance footage should be sought.
  • An experienced truck accident attorney should be contacted.

It can be hard to know where to begin after any truck accident. Victims often suffer very serious injuries and may need to take extensive time off of work. It is important for accident victims to understand that they do have rights. Any person who is injured in a truck accident may have legal recourse through a civil claim.
