10-Year-Old Boy Seriously Injured in Lake Ronkonkoma E-Bike Accident on Patchogue-Holbrook Road
LAKE RONKONKOMA, NEW YORK (May 31, 2026) – A 10-year-old boy was seriously injured in a Lake Ronkonkoma car accident along Patchogue-Holbrook Road.
Long Island officials are saying the accident took place around 8:30 PM on May 20. The driver of a 2020 Porsche Macan was driving southbound on the roadway when they collided with the 10-year-old boy.
The force of the impact ejected the boy from the e-bike. Paramedics were called to the scene of the accident to help the victim.
He was transported to Stony Brook University Hospital with serious injuries. A full investigation remains ongoing at this time.
Many people are killed or seriously injured every year in bicycle accidents. According to the National Safety Council, “Bicycle-related deaths peak in the warmer months, starting in June, and they remain high through October. In 2024, the highest number of deaths occurred in August (116 deaths) and the fewest in January (74 deaths).” Drivers should take a number of actions to prevent bicycle accidents.
If a driver fails to slow down to avoid hitting any cyclist in the roadway, this could serve as evidence of negligence. Even if a pedestrian is outside of a marked crosswalk, this does not relieve a driver of their duty to exercise due care. Any person injured in a car accident may have legal recourse through a personal injury claim. A personal injury claim can help cover lost wages, medical bills, and pain and suffering.
We at GLK Law extend our best wishes to the person injured in this Suffolk County bicycle accident. It is our sincere hope that they will be able to make a full recovery. There needs to be a thorough investigation into what went wrong.
