Semi-Truck Involved In Fatal Gloucester County Collision Was Parked Alongside Interstate 295
GLOUCESTER COUNTY, NEW JERSEY (July 10, 2025) – A woman has tragically died in a Gloucester County semi-truck accident along Interstate 295.
Gloucester County officials are saying that the accident took place around noon on Monday. A woman was driving a Dodge minivan when she was involved in a collision with a parked tractor-trailer.
Paramedics were called to the scene to help the victims. Sadly, the woman in the minivan died due to her injuries.
A passenger reportedly sustained minor injuries.
Many people are seriously injured or killed in truck accidents every year. According to the National Safety Council, “In 2023, 5,375 large trucks were involved in a fatal crash, an 8.4% decrease from 2022 but a 43% increase in the last 10 years. The involvement rate per 100 million large-truck miles traveled is down 8% from 2022, but up 22% in the last 10 years.” Trucks can be particularly dangerous for several reasons.
Semi-truck drivers must get a commercial license and are held to a high standard in terms of safety. They must operate their vehicle in a safe manner at all times. This includes any period where a truck driver may need to park. There are strict regulations about when and where truck drivers can park. Generally speaking, trucks should only park along a freeway during emergencies. Even then, they should put out flares and reflective triangles. If a truck driver violated parking regulations, their conduct could form the basis of a negligence claim if another vehicle hits the truck. Several steps should be taken after any semi-truck accident.
It can be difficult to know what to do after any truck accident. This is particularly true after any collision with a parked truck. The police often wrongfully assume that the drivers who hit a parked truck are always at fault. But this is simply not the case. The family of any person who died in a collision with a semi-truck may be able to seek some measure of accountability with a wrongful death claim.
We at GLK Law extend our deepest condolences to the family of the woman killed in this Gloucester County truck accident. Any person who may have more information about what happened should reach out to the police. There needs to be a thorough investigation into what happened.
