Every driver has a legal obligation to exercise due care to avoid collision. Many collisions involve drivers that were traveling too fast for the prevailing conditions. Pursuant to NY Veh & Traf L § 1180, “No person shall drive a vehicle at a speed greater than is reasonable and prudent under the conditions and having regard to the actual and potential hazards then existing.” Truck drivers should take several measures to avoid collisions.
It can be difficult to know where to begin after any truck accident. Victims are often left with serious injuries that necessitate that they take extended periods away from work.
