QUEENS, NEW YORK (March 9, 2025) – A 23-year-old woman was seriously injured in a collision between an Uber and a BMW in Queens by 135th Avenue and Lefferts Boulevard.
New York City officials are saying that the accident took place around 3 AM on Sunday. A BMW was involved in a collision with a Toyota RAV4 acting as an Uber.
The force of the impact caused a 23-year-old female passenger to be ejected from the Uber and critically injured. Paramedics were called to the scene in order to help all of the injured parties.
The woman was transported to the hospital in order to receive treatment. The NYPD arrested the driver of the BMW.
Many people are injured in rideshare collisions every year across New York in the United States. According to UIC Today, “One-third of ride-share drivers surveyed in a new study reported being involved in a crash while working. Using a cellphone, driving while tired or driving on unfamiliar roads increased the likelihood of a crash, according to the study by University of Illinois Chicago researchers.” There are a number of factors that could contribute to a rideshare collision.
Every driver has a legal obligation to exercise due care in order to avoid collisions. They must slow down during the early morning and late evening hours, when visibility is reduced. If a driver fails to slow down in order to avoid hitting another vehicle, they could be held at fault through a civil claim. Any person injured in an Uber or Lyft vehicle may have recourse through a legal action. It is important that certain steps are taken after any Uber accident.
Car accidents are one of the most difficult things that most people will go through. Accident victims are often left with serious injuries and may need to take extensive periods of time away from work. To make matters worse, insurance carriers will often do everything in their power to deny liability for any collision. Any person injured in an Uber accident may be able to seek some measure of accountability through a bodily injury claim.
