Liability For Bronx Car Accidents

Speeding remains one of the leading causes of car accidents in the United States. According to the NHTSA, “For more than two decades, speeding has been involved in approximately one-third of all motor vehicle fatalities. In 2022, speeding was a contributing factor in 29% of all traffic fatalities.” There are a number of serious consequences to speeding.

  • Drivers who speed are more likely to lose control of their vehicles.
  • Speeding increases a vehicle’s stopping distance.
  • Speeding increases crash severity and thereby leads to more serious injuries.

A large number of car accidents involve drivers who make dangerous left turns. According to New York Vehicle Code 1141, “The driver of a vehicle intending to turn to the left within an intersection or into an alley, private road, or driveway shall yield the right of way to any vehicle approaching from the opposite direction which is within the intersection or so close as to constitute an immediate hazard.” Victims of car accidents tend to suffer very serious injuries.

  • Head trauma
  • Organ damage
  • Internal bleeding
  • Fractures

It has been estimated that nearly 93% of all collisions involve some amount of human error. Sadly, though, at-fault drivers and their insurance providers will often do everything in their power to deny liability for collisions. This is one of the reasons it is so important to seek the guidance of a skilled attorney after any collision. The family of any person who died in a collision may be able to seek some measure of accountability through a civil claim.
