Two People Died in Harrison Township SUV Accident

Two Died After Car Crashed into Home in Harrison Township on Banff Drive

HARRISON TOWNSHIP, NEW JERSEY (January 18, 2026) – Two people have tragically died in Harrison Township after an SUV crashed into a home on Banff Drive.

Harrison Township officials are saying that the accident took place on Saturday night. A 2020 Hyundai Palisade SUV was driving down the road when it hit a curb and drove onto the front yard of a house.

That vehicle continued going and eventually ended up in the living room of the home. This caused the SUV to burst into flames.

Firefighters and paramedics were called to the scene of the accident to help the victims. Sadly, two people died due to their injuries.

A full investigation into the crash remains ongoing.

Liability for Harrison Township Car Accidents

Many people are seriously injured or killed every year in car accidents across the United States. According to the National Safety Council, “Between 1913 and 2023, motor-vehicle deaths per 10,000 registered vehicles decreased 95%, from 33 to 1.57, respectively. In 1913, only 1.3 million vehicles were registered, and 4,200 people died on the road. In 2023, 285 million vehicles were registered, and 44,762 people died on the road.” Several other factors could contribute to accidents.

  • Fatigue
  • Intoxication
  • Vehicle system failures
  • Poor road conditions

If a driver fails to slow down to avoid colliding with another vehicle or fixed object, this could confirm the basis of a negligence claim. Depending on the facts of any case, liability for a collision could extend beyond any driver deemed to be at fault. For example, the company that manufactured a vehicle could be liable if a car accident was due to some type of defect. Any person injured in a car accident may be able to pursue some measure of accountability through a personal injury claim.
