Speeding is one of the leading causes of motor vehicle collisions in the United States. According to the NHTSA, “For more than two decades, speeding has been involved in approximately one-third of all motor vehicle fatalities. In 2023, speeding was a contributing factor in 29% of all traffic fatalities.” Many other factors could contribute to a car accident.
All drivers must exercise due care to avoid collisions. If a driver fails to slow down to avoid collisions, this may be construed as negligence. There could also be multiple liable parties for any collision, depending on what happened. Any person injured in a car accident may be able to seek some measure of justice and accountability through a personal injury claim.
