In 1995, Mr. Floyd “Skip” Branch, Jr. and Mr. Matthew Watson started the N.Y.C. Bombsquad Basketball Classic program with 15 children ranging in ages 10 to 12 years old. Their vision was to provide an alternative to hanging out in the streets for the youth of Harlem. As the demand for this program grew and in an effort to take the program to a higher level, in 2003, Skip and his wife restructured and incorporated the program as a non-profit, 501(3)(c) organization. To further the mission, they rebranded the program and renamed it “N.Y.C. Bombsquad Basketball Classic, Inc.” (or the NYCBBC).
Today, the NYCBBC league has grown to include 5 divisions, catering to more than 275 youths ranging in ages 6 to 18 years old. Each player is placed on a team in one of the five divisions based on age and individual skill level.
In an effort to help further the efforts of this organization, Gersowitz Libo & Korek, P.C. is proud to sponsor the first annual fundraisor held by the NYCBBC.
