Senior Trial Partner Jeff Korek Co-Chairs 2018 Edition of“25 Trial Issues That Keep You Up In the Middle of the Night”

Jeff Korek, senior trial partner at Gersowitz Libo & Korek P.C., is a co-chair of the 2018 seminar edition of “25 Trial Issues That Keep You Up In the Middle of the Night.” The seminar is organized by the New York State Trial Lawyers Institute for the third consecutive year. It will be a two-night event, held on June 5th and June 12th from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the NYSTLA headquarters, at 132 Nassau Street, 2nd Floor, New York, NY 10038.

After last year’s success, “25 Trial Issues” is back this year with new questions and topics and an informal panel discussion that encourages audience participation for attorneys trying cases faced with the many challenges capable of keeping them up through the night.

About the “25 Trial Issues” Seminar

The two-night seminar includes lectures by the Honorable George Silver and an elite panel of trial attorneys, including Elizabeth Cornacchio, David Dean, Judith Livingston, Richard Maltz, Daniel O’Toole, Deborah Scalise and Evan Torgan. The panel will discuss various issues that lawyers face during trial that require fast and strategic thinking.

The experienced group of attorneys, including Jeff Korek, will discuss key issues, including:

  • Social media and ethics
  • Are searches on juror’s personal information ethical?
  • How to handle a potential juror who lied during voir dire
  • Are searches on a witness appropriate?
  • Obligation to disclose video of plaintiff harmful to her case?
  • Dealing with clients providing better surveillance than the defense investigator
  • Witness making a statement during investigation then denying it at trial, obligation to disclose?
  • In a summation, does failing to address your adversary’s arguments mean that you have conceded the point(s) he or she made?
  • Focus groups
  • Unfair settlement
  • Dealing with unprofessional judges
  • Issues related to Opening
  • Dealing with clients who are irresponsible, who have been previously convicted or who suffer from alcoholism or substance abuse

The seminar will also include a Q&A and a panel discussion to facilitate discussion of how to effectively handle the most difficult problems that come up during trial.
