LAKE GEORGE, NEW YORK (April 19, 2026) – Multiple high school students were injured in a Lake George bus accident near the intersection of Lakeshore Drive and Diamond Point Road.
New York State Police are saying that the accident took place on Sunday morning. A bus filled with high school students was involved in a collision for undetermined reasons.
Firefighters and paramedics were called to the scene of the crash to help all the victims. Four students and the bus driver were injured in the crash and taken to local area hospitals.
A full investigation into the collision remains ongoing at this time.
Many people are seriously injured or killed every year in bus accidents. According to The Journalist’s Resource, “about 63,000 buses [of all kinds] are involved in an accident each year; about 14,000 result in an injured person, and 325 result in a fatal injury. About 50 passengers (including the driver) are killed, on average, in a given year.” Several factors could contribute to any school bus accident.
If a bus driver fails to slow down to avoid causing an accident, this could serve as evidence of negligence. Liability for bus collision can also extend beyond any specific bus driver. The employer that a bus driver worked for could also be held at fault. Generally speaking, employers in New York can be vicariously liable for the wrongful conduct of their workers who are operating within the course and scope of their job duties.
We at GLK Law extend our best wishes to all of the victims of this bus accident in Lake George. Any person who may have more information about what happened should reach out to the police. There needs to be a thorough investigation into what went wrong.
