PROSPECT HEIGHTS, BROOKLYN (April 19, 2026) – At least seven people were injured in a fire at the Blew Smoke Cigar Lounge in Prospect Heights, Brooklyn.
New York City officials are saying that the fire first began around 2:36 AM on Friday. The fire apparently started on the first floor of the three-story building.

Six people were taken to the hospital to receive treatment. A full investigation into the accident remains ongoing at this time.
Property owners in New York City have a legal obligation to maintain their premises in a reasonably safe condition. This is particularly important for commercial properties. When a property owner has actual or constructive notice of a dangerous condition on their premises, they must take reasonable measures to remedy that dangerous condition. A number of different factors could contribute to a fire at a commercial property.
Many people are injured in fires each year. According to the Fire Safety Journal, “In 2023, the United States (US) alone recorded 470,000 structural fire incidents. Though structural fires accounted for roughly a third of all fires, they generated more than 80% of the fire losses in terms of civilian fire deaths (3070 out of 3670) and civilian fire injuries (11,790 out of 13,350), while also generating the majority of direct property damage ($14.7 billion out of $23 billion).” Any person injured in a New York fire may be able to pursue damages through a civil claim.
We at GLK Law extend our best wishes to all of the people injured in this accident at the Blew Smoke Cigar Lounge in Prospect Heights. It is our sincere hope that they will be able to make a full recovery. Any person who may have more information about what happened should reach out to the police.
