Liability For Staten Island Car Accidents

Speeding remains a leading cause of car accidents in the United States. According to the National Safety Council, “Speeding was a factor in 29% of all traffic fatalities in 2022, killing 12,151, or an average of over 33 people on a typical day. The total number of fatal motor-vehicle crashes attributable to speeding was 10,922.” It is important that certain steps be taken after any car accident.

  • Eyewitnesses should be interviewed.
  • Medical records should be preserved.
  • Surveillance footage should be collected.
  • An experienced personal injury attorney should be contacted.

Every driver has a legal obligation to obey traffic regulations and exercise due care in order to avoid collisions. If, for example, a driver fails to slow down in order to avoid a collision, this could form the basis of a negligence claim. Any person injured in a car accident may be able to seek some measure of justice through a civil claim.
