Motorcyclist Injured In Midtown Manhattan Collision In The Lincoln Tunnel
MANHATTAN, NEW YORK (September 10, 2024) – A motorcyclist was injured in a Midtown, Manhattan collision that caused a backup in the Lincoln Tunnel.
New York City officials are saying that the incident took place around 4:00 a.m. on Tuesday. A motorcyclist was involved in a collision under uncertain conditions.

Motorcyclists lack the protection of enclosed vehicles and are uniquely vulnerable in car accidents. According to the National Safety Council, “Although motorcycles make up only 3% of all registered vehicles and 0.7% of all vehicle miles traveled in the United States, motorcyclists accounted for 14.6% of all traffic fatalities and 3.5% of all injuries in 2022.” Drivers should take a number of measures in order to avoid hitting motorcycles.
All drivers have a legal obligation to exercise due care in order to avoid hitting other vehicles. To that end, drivers must slow down during periods of inclement weather and heavy traffic. There is a rebuttable presumption of negligence on the part of any driver that fails to slow down to avoid a vehicle in their lane. Victims of motorcycle accidents tend to suffer very serious injuries.
Car accidents are often highly preventable. They tend to occur when drivers are distracted or speeding. Any person that is injured in a Manhattan car accident may have legal recourse through a civil claim. Damages in a civil claim can help victims recover for their injuries and lost wages. A car accident attorney can examine all of the unique facts of your case and let you know what your legal options are.
