Driver Charged for Deadly Melville DUI Car Crash That Left Man Dead
MELVILLE, NEW YORK (January 25, 2026) – A man has tragically died in a Melville, Long Island, DUI car accident near the intersection of Pinelawn Road and Express Drive South.
Long Island officials are saying that the collision took place around 10 PM on December 26. A driver was heading through the intersection on a green light when they were hit by a person suspected of being under the influence.
Paramedics were called to the scene of the accident to help the victim. Despite life-saving measures, he later died due to his injuries.
Police have charged the driver involved in the crash with DUI.
Many people are killed or seriously injured every year in accidents with an intoxicated driver. According to the NHTSA, “Every day, about 34 people in the United States die in drunk-driving crashes — that’s one person every 42 minutes.
