Investigation Underway After Four People Were Injured in Multi-Vehicle Collision on the Long Island Expressway
QUEENS, NEW YORK (February 28, 2026)—At least four people were injured in a multi-vehicle car accident in Queens on the Long Island Expressway.
New York City officials are saying the collision took place around 9:01 AM on the LIE, not far from 25th St. Multiple vehicles collided in the roadway for undetermined reasons.
The force of the impact caused one of those vehicles to end up on another vehicle. Paramedics were called to the scene of the accident to help all of the victims.
One person was taken to the hospital and is in critical condition.
Speeding is one of the most common causes of car accidents in New York. According to the NHTSA, “For more than two decades, speeding has been involved in approximately one-third of all motor vehicle fatalities. In 2023, speeding was a contributing factor in 29% of all traffic fatalities.” There are many ways that a driver may have acted negligently prior to a crash.
If any driver fails to exercise due care and slow down to avoid a collision, this could be construed as negligence. It is important that accident victims understand that they are protected by a number of laws. They are able to pursue some level of justice through a personal injury claim. Damages in a civil claim can help cover many of the losses that often occur with a serious collision.
We at GLK Law extend our best wishes to all of the people injured in this Queens car accident. Any person who may have more information about what happened should reach out to the police. There needs to be a thorough investigation into what went wrong.
