Investigation Underway After Inwood, Manhattan Apartment Fire Injured Four People, Including Three Firefighters
MANHATTAN, NEW YORK (October 27, 2025) – At least four people were injured in an Inwood, Manhattan apartment fire along Sherman Avenue.
New York City officials are saying that the fire started around 7:00 a.m. on Monday. Firefighters were called to the apartment and began rescue efforts.
One person was extricated from the building in critical condition and taken to the hospital. Three firefighters were also injured in the blaze.
A full investigation into the cause of the Inwood apartment fire remains ongoing.
Residential fires are one of the leading causes of preventable injury and death in the United States. According to The Zebra, “In a five-year period, house fires caused 2,620 deaths and $6.9 billion in property damage (NFPA). In 2018, the national average was 2.5 civilian fire deaths and 9.8 injuries per 1,000 fires (NFDR).” There are many common causes of apartment fires.
